On August 8, the People's Committee of Le Thuy commune (Quang Tri province) announced that the locality had just organized a reward for 2 young men who had bravely saved a woman from committing suicide by jumping into the river.
Previously, at around 9:00 p.m. on August 2, Mr. Nguyen Vo Huy Cong (residing in Tuy Loc village) and Mr. Hoang Vu (residing in Thach Ban village, in the same Le Thuy commune) discovered a woman showing unusual signs of standing alone, constantly bending at the traffic light area. This person then moved to Phong Xuan bridge and suddenly sowed himself into the Kien Giang river.
Immediately, Mr. Vu jumped into the river to swim to safety, and Mr. Cong also ran to help. Both approached and guided the woman to shore in the presence of many people. After receiving first aid on the spot, the victim was out of danger.
According to Le Thuy Commune Police, the woman from Nghe An showed signs of psychological instability. That same evening, the authorities contacted the family to pick him up.
Mr. Le Van Son - Vice Chairman of Le Thuy Commune People's Committee said that after rescuing people, the two young men quietly returned home. The government must research, verify and then organize awards to encourage the spirit of courage.
