On the afternoon of January 15, at the Do Muoi - National Highway 1B intersection, Hoang Mai District (Hanoi), the working group of Road Traffic Police Team No. 14 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police), led by Captain Nguyen Van Doan, was on duty to regulate traffic when they discovered an elderly woman showing unusual signs.
At that time, the old woman was walking alone towards National Highway 1B, while it was getting dark, there was a lot of traffic, posing a potential safety risk.
Faced with the situation, the working group quickly approached and asked her questions. The old woman, identified as about 80 years old, showed signs of dementia, only remembering her son's name was Giang but unable to provide her home address.
Faced with the above situation, the working group took the old man to the traffic police booth to rest and take care of him and at the same time reported to the Team Command. Immediately after receiving the information, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duc Hoang - Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 14 proactively coordinated with VOV Traffic Channel to broadcast a news bulletin, calling for the support of the people in finding the old man's relatives.
After only about an hour, the news reached the Lang Thuong Ward Police Station, Dong Da District.
Through the description, the unit recognized the old lady as a citizen of the ward and immediately contacted her family. That same evening, Mr. N.T.Giang (Dong Da District) - the old lady's son, was present at Traffic Police Team No. 14 to pick up his mother.
Talking to the authorities, Mr. N.T.Giang said that his mother, born in 1944, due to old age and memory loss, had gotten lost early in the afternoon, causing the whole family to be extremely worried.
Receiving information from the ward police, he immediately went there, could not hide his emotion when meeting his mother again and sent his deep thanks to the working group.
“Our family is very grateful for the sense of responsibility and dedication of the traffic police officers. Thanks to the timely support, my mother returned safely, erasing the anxiety of the whole family,” Giang wrote in a thank you letter to the traffic police officers.
