On September 20, Binh Loi Commune Police (HCMC) confirmed that a student in the area had an accident when he fell into the river on an electric bicycle, but luckily, the local security forces promptly rescued him and saved his life.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 19, when N.D.T.L was driving an electric bicycle down the slope to wait for the ferry in Hamlet 3, Binh Loi Commune. Due to losing control of his speed, he and the car plunged straight into the Xang Ngang River.
At that moment, the ferry driven by Mr. N.V.L was moving to shore. On the ferry was Mr. Nguyen Hoang Huy (21 years old), a member of the security force of Binh Loi commune.
Hearing the screams from the people on the ferry, Mr. Huy immediately jumped into the water to save the student.
According to Mr. Huy, when the ferry went into the middle of the river, he heard people screaming. turning around, he saw the boy and his electric bicycle fall into the river. "The pair on my back swept me more than 5m away from the shore. At that time, the couple was absorbed by the water, causing her to sink and panic. Luckily, I was able to take a photo of him, lift him up and reassure him to calm down," he recounted.
With the support of those around him, Mr. Huy pulled the student and the motorbike to shore safely.
Currently, N.D.T.L's health is stable. The brave and quick-witted action of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Huy, a shining example of responsibility and courage, helped protect the student's life.
Regarding the incident, the authorities of Binh Loi commune said that they will organize a reward and commendation for Mr. Nguyen Hoang Huy's humane act.
