Sending your heart through each cycle
For more than a decade, the image of Mr. Nguyen Van Giau (62 years old, Thoi Trinh area, Thoi An ward, O Mon district) has been deeply imprinted in the minds of local people. He is famous not for his noise, but for his silent but extremely meaningful actions: meticulously repairing old bicycles and giving them to hundreds of students in difficult circumstances. Mr. Giau's actions have quietly " giving wings" to the dreams of a child with limited luck to go to school.

After nearly 30 years of working in the motorbike repair profession, Mr. Giau's main job is to "catch" "unstable" cars. However, in the past 10 years, people here have often seen him carefully repairing each old bicycle.
Mr. Giau shared that he was born into a poor working-class family, deeply understanding the value of letters, and was always moved when he witnessed many children having to walk long distances to get to school.
From those concerns, in 2017, he started to buy old, broken bicycles and then repaired them himself, replaced components, painted the frame, and turned them into useful vehicles to support children going to school.

Without anyone calling for it, without waiting for sponsorship, Mr. Giau quietly went to scrap yards to buy used bicycles. Bringing the car back, he personally "heals" the damage, replaces old parts, repaints them for new ones, then goes to schools, contacts teachers to grasp the situation of students in need of help and gifts.
According to Mr. Giau, compared to motorbikes, bicycles are easier to repair. Old cars often need to replace tires, wheels, chains, brakes... In his free time, he can repair 2-3 cars a day, and when busy, he only completes one in a few days.
Cars that extend dreams
To date, this kind car repairman has donated more than 100 bicycles to poor students in the area. Each car is a story, a journey that he always remembers.
"There are people who grow up and come back to my shop, showing off that they are thanks to the car that their children go to school regularly, no longer resting in between. Hearing that, I was very happy, feeling that my job was not only to repair cars but also to contribute to repairing the future road for the children, said Mr. Giau.

Mr. Giau's meaningful work has spread, many boat owners know about this and sell bicycle carcasses to him at cheap prices, some even prevent him from continuing his charity work. Occasionally, there are people who support him with a little money to buy spare parts, but most of the cost is still paid for by him. After repairing each old bicycle, he usually spends an additional 500,000 VND.
Not expecting any certificates of merit or honor, Mr. Giau's only concern is that each car given away will give a child the opportunity to go to school and continue his education.

In recent years, the number of people coming to ask for bicycles has decreased, which makes Mr. Giau both sad and happy. sad because there may still be difficult circumstances, but happy because the economic conditions of many families have improved, their children no longer lack means to go to school.
Mr. Ha Vanem - Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Thoi An Ward informed that Mr. Giau's family is not very well off, but he always pays special attention to students in difficult circumstances in the locality. Every new school year, Mr. Giau regularly gives bicycles to students at the secondary school in the ward.
The noble actions and kindness of bus repairman Nguyen Van Giau have become a great source of encouragement for poor students, lighting up hope and giving wings to their dreams of going to school.
