He has helped nearly 30 difficult circumstances and over 150 families celebrate Tet reunion and happiness, with a total value of nearly 700 million VND donated in cash.
Although his main job is a construction worker specializing in constructing clan temples and pagodas, Mr. Pham Van Toan (35 years old, residing in Ninh Giang commune, Ninh Binh province) is known by local people as an energetic and enthusiastic young man with charity movements.
Mr. Toan said that he started participating in charity activities in 2023 with the desire to share and help those in difficult circumstances in society.
By 2024, to make support more methodical and effective, he officially established the Ninh Giang Charity Group to connect the community and call on philanthropists to join hands to help vulnerable people.
Many times, to promptly support urgent cases, Mr. Toan and his wife proactively spent their own money before they could call on the community.
For me, each time helping a difficult situation is a great joy. If I cannot connect to help immediately, I always feel worried in my heart, just hoping to complete the work soon to continue taking care of them" - Mr. Toan shared.
Currently, Ninh Giang Charity Group has 5 members, headed by Mr. Toan. Therefore, he is always clearly aware of his responsibility, spending a lot of time on charity work even without any remuneration.
According to Mr. Toan, the situation with the lowest support level that the group has ever given is nearly 9 million VND, the highest case received more than 84 million VND.
In addition, the group also organizes the "Loving Tet" program every year-end, supporting more than 150 families in difficult circumstances, contributing to helping many people celebrate a more fulfilling Tet.
Not only stopping at his hometown, Mr. Toan also coordinates with local authorities and organizations to call for support for people in many other provinces and cities when encountering natural disasters and hardships.
These include mobilizing donations of 90 million VND for people in My Ly commune (Nghe An), 75 million VND for people in the flood-stricken area of Dai Tu (Thai Nguyen) and many other support activities across the country.
Regarding how to find and connect difficult circumstances, Mr. Toan said that mainly through local people, the Red Cross Society and social networks. After verifying the information, he used his personal account to post and call for the joint efforts of philanthropists.
Each case supported is set a specific call time by the group. After completion, Mr. Toan publicly discloses the statements transparently and coordinates with village and commune officials to directly give money to people in need of help.
I hope my small actions can spread the spirit of mutual affection to more people. Each person contributing a little, sharing together will create great strength to help those in difficult circumstances in society" - Mr. Toan expressed.
Mr. Pham Van Thanh - Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Ninh Giang commune confirmed that Mr. Toan is currently the Head of the Ninh Giang Charity Group and is a person who has made many positive contributions to humanitarian work in the locality.
“According to our assessment, Toan is a young, dynamic, enthusiastic and always wants to dedicate his youth to the community. Many circumstances have been helped by him in time and so far we have not received any negative feedback about the group's charity activities” - Mr. Thanh said.
