On August 17, Da Nang Hospital said that while working at Da Nang Hospital, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thu (staff of the Emergency Department) discovered a package of paper lying in the corridor area. Suspecting that there was valuable property of another person dropped inside, Ms. Thu immediately contacted the Social Work Department and the hospital's security force to conduct inspection, seal and coordinate in searching for the owner.
Through the process of verifying information, functional units identified the owner of the above property as Ms. Nguyen Thi Truyen (residing in Quang Ngai province) - a relative of a patient being actively treated at the Department of Surgical Intensive Care, Da Nang Hospital.
All assets handed over to Ms. Truyen included 19.5 million VND in cash and 200 USD (total value converted is estimated at nearly 25 million VND).
Ms. Truyen said that this is the money the whole family collected and brought along to prepare for paying hospital fees and paying for treatment costs for her mother who is in the hospital. While worried about treating relatives, she unfortunately dropped it and thought she had lost this important amount of money.
Da Nang Hospital recommends that, in order to minimize the risk of property loss during examination and treatment, patients and their relatives should limit carrying large amounts of cash; prioritize using non-cash hospital fee payment methods such as bank transfers, QR code scanning or electronic wallets supported by the hospital. At the same time, people need to proactively raise awareness of self-preservation of money, personal papers and personal property throughout their stay at the hospital.
