There are children going to school with old backpacks, worn-out uniforms and the worry of food and clothing weighing heavily on their backs. But in Vu Gia and Thang Phu communes, Da Nang city, the children are no longer walking alone, because behind them there are "special fathers and mothers" in the colors of the Police quietly supporting and sharing.
For many years, the Youth Union branch and the Women's Union branch of Vu Gia Commune Police have maintained the model "Youth Union's adopted child - Godmother". From small gifts, study support to visits and encouragement, the model has become a support for many poor and orphaned students in the area.
Tran Dinh Loi, residing in Gia Hue village, a 4th grade student at Nguyen Thi Bay Elementary School, is one of the children sponsored. His mother died early, his family is considered a near-poor household, Loi's childhood lacked the seemingly simplest things.

In the early days when he was accepted by the Youth Union members of Vu Gia Commune Police to be "Youth Union's adopted brother", Loi was still shy and taciturn. He was used to withdrawing himself in the face of family difficulties. But then the times he was visited by the police officers, asked about his studies, given books, and encouraged to try, gradually opened his heart.
I am happy to have the police officers caring. I will try to study hard to help my grandmother and my family later" - Loi shared. For me, that help is not just money to buy books, but also the feeling of being remembered, loved and not being left behind.
Also in Vu Gia commune, Huynh Dang Tam, residing in Khuong My village, a 2nd grade student at Dai Cuong Elementary School, was sponsored by the Commune Police Women's Union under the "Parental Mother" program. Tam has no father, her mother is also suffering from a serious illness, and the family economy is often short of money.
At a very young age, Tam had already understood the deprivations in her house. There were days when she went to class, she carried with her worries about her mother's illness. Therefore, the appearance of the teachers in the Women's Union of Vu Gia Commune Police was like a warm embrace.
The "midwives" not only bring necessities, support tuition fees, but also spend time talking, listening, reminding her to take care of her health, study hard and be stronger. For Tam, every time the teachers visit, the small house has more laughter.

In Thang Phu commune, the "Commune Police Foster Child" model implemented by the Commune Police Youth Union is also quietly sowing seeds of hope. Nguyen Le Thi Thuy Hien, a 4th grade student at 4/2 Nguyen Cong Tru Elementary School, is one such case.
Her father died early, her mother was sick, and she did not have a stable job, Hien grew up in poverty. At one point, family difficulties became a major barrier on her way to school. Knowing that situation, the Thang Phu Commune Police Youth Union adopted Hien as "Children of the Commune Police", accompanying her in her studies and life.
Not only supporting books, clothes, and tuition fees, commune police youth union members also regularly visit, tutor lessons, and ask about class and family matters. Those simple conversations gradually erase the distance between police officers and a young female student who is inherently self-conscious.
From a shy student, Hien gradually became more confident. She is diligent in studying, knows how to help her mother with things that are within her ability and has clearer goals for the future. "I want to study well so that I can have a job in the future and take care of my mother. I thank the aunts and uncles for helping me continue to go to school" - Hien expressed.
Captain Huynh Thi Kim Anh - Secretary of the Youth Union of Thang Phu Commune Police - said that sponsoring the children is not just material support. More importantly, it helps the children have more faith and feel that there are always companions by their side.
For poor, orphaned students, that sponsorship not only helps them have more conditions to go to class. More importantly, they have a larger family, where there are special fathers and mothers who always remind them to believe in tomorrow.
