Dien Bien - After the floodwaters receded, many electronics and refrigerators volunteered to go to the flooded areas to repair damaged equipment for free for the people.

As Lao Dong reported, the heavy rain on the night of July 31 and early morning of August 1 caused flash floods and terrible landslides, causing heavy damage to people and property in many mountainous communes of Dien Bien province.

Among them, there are essential electrical equipment such as refrigerators, washing machines, electric fans... that have been soaked in water and damaged. While the people were still struggling, electronics and refrigeration workers appeared.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ngo Dung (41 years old), representative of the Electronics - Refrigeration Association of Dien Bien province, said: "Witnessing the huge losses of the people after the flood, the brothers in the association could not sit still. Every year when there are natural disasters, the association often raises cash, food, etc.

But this year, realizing the huge property damage, the association decided to use its expertise, efforts and materials to help people in the most practical way".

As early as August 4, the volunteer team of 31 members of the association set off. Electronics and refrigerators were present at the severely damaged areas such as Suoi Lu village (Ha Dung commune), Pa Vat village (Muong Luan commune), Chieng So Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities and many other neighboring areas in Muong Luan and Na Son communes.

"The association's motto is to support and partly compensate for the losses of the people. Any family with broken items will repair them completely for free" - Mr. Dung said.

With more than 12 years of experience in the profession, Mr. Vuong Quoc Kinh (40 years old, Thanh Nua commune) - said: "Seeing the houses and properties of the people swept away and damaged by the flood, I feel heartbroken. We use our skills to help people stabilize their lives soon".

To make the work effective, the delegation organized centralized repair points. According to Mr. Dung, if a machine breaks down and people have to call outside workers, the cost can be up to a million VND. But when they joined in the repair, the people did not lose a single penny.

"All replacement components were contributed by the brothers to buy. If we put in effort and buy materials, the value of the help will increase many times" - Mr. Dung said.

As one of the households that received help, Mr. Lo Van Sang (Ba Nam village, Muong Luan commune) could not hide his joy when his family's only refrigerator resumed operation.

"Floodwater entered the house, the refrigerator was flooded, lulling and breaking down. While worried, workers came to help repair it for free. So wonderful, the cabinet is running well now. The family would like to thank the benefactors very much" - Mr. Sang said emotionally.

Washing machines, refrigerators, fans... are "saved" not only helping people save a large amount of money but also a great source of spiritual encouragement, helping them feel not alone in difficulties.

In recent days, floods and landslides in the North Central and Northern mountainous provinces have killed and left many people missing, houses, schools and maple blossoms were swept away and submerged in mud, affecting local production activities.

"A piece of food when hungry is worth a package when full", with the spirit of mutual love that has always been a beautiful image of the Vietnamese people, the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund calls on domestic and foreign philanthropists to join hands to share with people affected by floods.... to soon stabilize their lives.

The Golden Heart Social Charity Fund would like to sincerely thank the precious feelings of agencies, businesses, and domestic and foreign philanthropists.
