As Lao Dong reported, the heavy rain on the night of July 31 and early morning of August 1 caused flash floods and terrible landslides, causing heavy damage to people and property in many mountainous communes of Dien Bien province.
Sharing the difficulties with people in flash flood and landslide areas, these days from all over the country, organizations, unions and many volunteer groups have traveled hundreds of kilometers to bring relief goods to people in flooded areas.
However, consecutive rains on August 5 and 6 have caused roads leading to flooded areas to be at risk of subsidence, landslides and are always in a state of unsafety...
Just returned from a 3-day relief trip, Mr. Ha Minh Tan (28 years old, Nhan Ai Fruit Club in Phu Tho province) - said: "Coming here, I have seen with my own eyes the people are extremely hard-working. Losing a house or a house, fields and gardens are unknown when they will be restored. I just hope that more teams will approach and support people to ease some of the difficulties".

Although he has experience organizing charity trips since 2017, Mr. Tan also affirmed that there is no danger of relief in flood and natural disaster areas, especially when it continues to rain.
After the recent flash floods and prolonged heavy rains, the soil along the hillsides and the roadbed has become very weak, posing many potential safety risks. Despite being highly vigilant, Mr. Tan's group still narrowly escaped death...

"When I arrived at the landslide in Na Son commune, I saw 2 people's cars stuck in front. I quickly pushed the car back, but immediately, another local car came right behind, we had no way to back up" - Mr. Tan recounted the moment facing death.
At that moment, the rocks began to fall from the mountain. "I was forced to take a risk to get on the bus. When my car reached a section, it got stuck and I didn't know what to do. I quickly shouted to the brothers to push the car together, trying to get out of it" - Mr. Tan recalled.

In the face of complicated weather developments, to ensure the safety of people and relief groups, on August 7, Dien Bien Provincial Police advised people not to move into landslide areas in all weather conditions. In particular, do not approach areas at risk of landslides when it is raining.
In addition, Dien Bien Provincial Police also recommends that people in flooded areas comply with the instructions of local authorities on evacuation or urgently move to a safe place if there is continued heavy rain. If the road is deeply collapsed or flash floods, immediately notify the commune leaders or rescue forces for a handling plan.
In recent days, floods and landslides in the North Central and Northern mountainous provinces have killed and left many people missing, houses, schools and maple blossoms were swept away and submerged in mud, affecting local production activities.
