On April 6, at the flag salute ceremony at the beginning of April 2026, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Phuoc Giang commune organized a commendation and awarded certificates of merit to Mr. Nguyen Van Canh (42 years old), in Nghia Lam village, Phuoc Giang commune, for bravely saving people in dangerous situations.
Previously, at about 9 am on March 30, 2026, Mr. Nguyen Van Canh promptly rescued a teenager who unfortunately fell into the main South canal.
At this time, the canal water was flowing swiftly, with a depth of more than 4 m. Regardless of danger, Mr. Canh quickly used lifebuoys and bamboo poles to bring the victim ashore safely.
This is not the first time Mr. Nguyen Van Canh has been brave and resourceful in rescuing people. In the past 20 years, Mr. Canh has rescued more than 10 people from the risk of drowning in the main South canal.
Along with his main job of repairing bicycles and motorbikes, Mr. Canh also enthusiastically participates in the security and order forces at the grassroots level. He is the Deputy Head of the Security and Order Team of Nghia Lam village, Phuoc Giang commune.
The timely commendation and reward of the Party Committee and Phuoc Giang Commune People's Committee is not only a worthy recognition for Mr. Canh but also contributes to encouraging each citizen to uphold their sense of responsibility and be willing to help each other in daily life.
