On April 7, Trieu Phong Commune Police, Quang Tri province confirmed that a drowning incident had just occurred in the area, causing a male student to die.
Accordingly, at about 1 pm on the same day, N.N.M (14 years old, residing in An Hung village, Trieu Co commune, Quang Tri province, an 8th grade student) and 5 classmates came to the irrigation canal in An Tiem village, Trieu Phong commune to swim.
During swimming, M did not know how to swim but still jumped into the canal to practice swimming. After going into the water for a while, she struggled and cried for help. Seeing this, the group of friends who went with her swam out to rescue but failed.
Upon receiving the information, people and the Trieu Phong Commune Police force were present at the scene, coordinating to organize the search. At about 3:40 pm on the same day, M.'s body was found.
Previously, on April 3 and April 4, there were also 2 drowning incidents in Quang Tri province, killing 3 people.
