10 years waiting for a bridge in Can Tho

The Tran Bach Dang bridge project (Can Tho City) connecting Tan An ward with Long Tuyen ward was started in 2016, constructed in 2018, but after nearly 10 years, only a few piles have been closed.

“Truoc thuc trang cau chua duoc xay dung va buc xuc ve viec di lai, moi day nguoi dan da tu gop cong, gop cua lam duong tam chi trong khoang 10 ngay de tam thoi giai quyet kho khan. Viec du an cau bi bo khong suot nhieu nam qua khien nguoi dan khong khoi xot xa va lo lang”, ong Danh cho hay.

The project has an initial total investment of more than 25.7 billion VND, after many adjustments to increase to more than 74.4 billion VND. To date, the project has been allocated about 16.5 billion VND of capital, disbursed nearly 13 billion VND, reaching more than 78% of the plan. Compensation, support and resettlement have been completed, but the relocation of technical infrastructure, especially the 110kV high-voltage power line, has not been implemented.

Nam 2025, UBND TP Can Tho phe duyet dieu chinh chu truong dau tu, thong nhat dieu chinh quy mo cau va duong dan nham dap ung nhu cau giao thong thuc te, dam bao an toan, dong bo ha tang va phu hop dinh huong phat trien do thi. Theo ke hoach, du an se tiep tuc trien khai trong nam 2026 de hoan thanh, nghiem thu va dua vao su dung (anh chup thang 4.2025).

In 2025, Can Tho City People's Committee approved the adjustment of investment policy, unanimously adjusting the scale of bridges and access roads to meet actual traffic needs, ensure safety, synchronous infrastructure and suit urban development orientation. According to the plan, the project will continue to be implemented in 2026 to be completed, accepted and put into use (photo taken in April 2025).
