On the afternoon of January 8, at the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answering press questions asking for Vietnam's views on President Donald Trump signing an official memorandum of understanding directing the US to withdraw from 66 international organizations including agencies and organizations under the United Nations and other international organizations on January 7, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized: "Vietnam supports multilateralism and values the role of multilateral organizations, especially the United Nations, in contributing to global governance and solving common problems of the world on the basis of the United Nations Charter and international law".
We hope that countries will continue to promote multilateralism, actively contribute to building and strengthening multilateral institutions and international law for peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development in the world. Also in that spirit, Vietnam is ready to participate and contribute to global and regional multilateral mechanisms according to its capabilities" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang said.
Also at the press conference, answering questions about Vietnam's assessment of developments related to the situation in Yemen as well as the measures that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council have taken towards the security and sovereignty of this country, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed: "Vietnam is interested in monitoring the current situation in Yemen".
We call on all parties to exercise restraint and not to take actions that complicate the situation, not to use or threaten to use force, strengthen dialogue, create a favorable environment to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive political solution for Yemen in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, making positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region as well as around the world" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang added.
