Traffic project in Hue opens to one-way traffic after 12 years of waiting

The railway overpass project belongs to the Phong Dien - Dien Loc rescue road project with one-way traffic. On the other side, the contractor is constructing retaining walls, bored piles, bridge beams that have basically been cast, and many other items.

Accordingly, the Phong Dien - Dien Loc rescue road project (Thua Thien Hue) was started in 2012 with a total length of 16.25km. The starting point intersects with National Highway 1A at Phong Dien, the ending point is at Dien Loc commune beach.

The project has a total investment of more than 671 billion VND to improve infrastructure in the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon area, proactively prevent natural disasters, and develop socio-economic development. Besides road construction, the project has additional bridge construction items (including residential bridges, railway overpasses) and intersections.

It is known that the project is invested by the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board of Thua Thien Hue province, and the construction unit is a joint venture of Railway Construction Corporation - Thanh Dat Joint Stock Company.

Although the project has a construction deadline of 3 years, it has been 12 years since the project only opened to one-way traffic. It is still unfinished and many items are still in disarray.

The reason is that this project is in the list of projects allocated capital from the Central Rescue Road Construction Program. However, after the Government tightened public investment, this project had to temporarily suspend construction.

Faced with that situation, in January 2024, the People's Council of Thua Thien Hue province adjusted and added more than 100 billion VND, bringing the total investment in this project to more than 777 billion VND. It is known that this additional capital will be used by the investor to plant trees and adjust the concrete road surface from 7.5m to 15m.

After being arranged to increase capital and actively carry out relocation and site clearance work, the Phong Dien - Dien Loc rescue road project is in the sprint construction phase.

The entire route is open to one-way traffic from Phong Dien town to Highway 49B to Dien Loc beach. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2024.
