As for the defendant Do Thi Nhan (former Director of the Banking Inspection and Supervision Department II under the State Bank), the Procuracy proposed to reject the appeal for a reduced sentence, upholding the life sentence. According to the accusation, the defendant Nhan was the Head of the Inspection Team at SCB Bank, and received money from the defendant Truong My Lan 4 times through the defendant Vo Tan Hoang Van (former General Director of SCB) to ignore the violations at SCB. The total amount of money the defendant Nhan received was 5.2 million USD.

Previously, at the appeal hearing, the defendant Truong My Lan admitted her guilt, pledged to compensate for all damages and hoped for a reduced sentence. However, the Procuracy maintained its view that the consequences of the case were particularly serious, requiring the defendant to recover about 3/4 of the amount of money embezzled in order to consider a reduced sentence. However, at the trial, the defendant presented many asset codes but did not have sufficient legal basis, so the Procuracy did not consider the request for a reduced sentence.
