Not only writing books, Do Trung Kien also attracts the attention of the online community with English teaching videos on the TikTok channel "BS.Kien - Medical English".
The 9X doctor said that being a content creator is not easy, bringing medical English knowledge to everyone through social networks is many times more difficult. Therefore, in the process of working, he has to choose a specific transmission method.
"There is a very good method in pedagogy, which is to connect difficult knowledge with easier, more familiar knowledge that learners already know. I often connect medical English with common English. Then I use familiar materials such as movies, song lyrics, daily events... to make learners feel that specialized English is not that difficult," Trung Kien shared.
Working as a teacher, a doctor and producing content for social media makes Kien's life very busy. Whenever he has a new idea, the Hanoian records it on his phone and spends Sundays summarizing it. Then, he develops the ideas, writes the script and shoots videos for the following week.
"The best way to manage time properly is to draw a table, list out the tasks that need to be done each day, and make plans and goals for each week and month. Only then can we complete all the tasks we are responsible for," he laughed.
Despite arranging his work reasonably, Trung Kien cannot avoid the times when he wants to give up and give up because he does not achieve his goals as planned. However, just seeing that he can help more young people with the same passion as him, the doctor encourages himself.
“I once received a message from an audience member who was also a junior colleague. He told me that he had been accepted into a large private hospital in Hanoi because he had performed very well in the interview round in specialized English, including knowledge that had appeared in his videos. This story inspired and motivated me to continue on the path ahead,” Kien added.
Currently, besides interesting specialized English clips, he has also compiled and published 2 books "Medical English" & "Hospital Communication English for Beginners", as well as published the 3rd book in early December with the title "Minimal English Grammar for Beginners" to spread English knowledge to young people.
With his passion, Trung Kien's book was praised by Associate Professor, Dr. Do Duc Cuong - former Director of the Center for Diagnostic Imaging - 108 Central Military Hospital: "The book has a very easy-to-understand explanation with many specific examples and vivid visual images from 10 major medical specialties, helping learners grasp the basic knowledge of medical English".
