The first draft of the story was completed by the female author in the summer of 2021, during a period when she and each of us seemed to not know where the world was going amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
But it was not until three years later, when the pandemic had gradually receded into memory, that the author was calm enough to bring the haunting human stories of that day to readers.
Even though in the introduction, the author explained that this is a completely fictional novel, the setting, characters, and events are not related to reality but are just a story set in a fictional city called Nam Yen during a pandemic called Moros+. However, all of these explanations cannot stop readers from imagining...
But surely those involved, the doctors and nurses who devoted their strength and lives during the pandemic, and the patients who were on the brink of life and death, will never forget.
The novel is like a strong touch to memory, making the years we have experienced come alive again as if it were yesterday.
It shows us that in the stifling atmosphere of the emergency room - as recorded in the television report - there are not only cold sounds and actions but also a world of human emotions, confusion, extreme pain, but also love, betrayal, hatred, and awakening...
