Vietnam Women's Publishing House has just introduced to Vietnamese readers the book "Mental harassment - Vice in daily life", a famous research work by French doctor, psychologist and cent cent cent centrist Marie-France Hirigoyen.
The work was first published in France in 1998 and quickly became a social phenomenon, opening a new approach in modern psychology when pointing out the existence of an invisible form of violence but with profound destructive power - mental violence.
Marie-France Hirigoyen believes that not only physical actions cause pain. intentional and repetitive words, gestures, indifference, amage, contempt or degradation of others can also become a form of mental violence.
According to her, it is a psychological killing - the process of destroying humanity by manipulating, losing confidence and isolating others.

The work consists of two main parts. In Part I - Identifying mental violence, the author meticulously analyzes the psychological mechanisms of the abused - often people with a tendency to love for themselves, prefer to control or distort their personality. With a scientific and approachable presentation, she helps readers realize that "hiding violence" can occur anywhere: in the family, marriage, workplace, school or in society.
In Part II - Consequences and care for victims, the author describes the long-term psychological damage that victims have to endure: anxiety, depression, self-consciousness, disorientation, and even the intention to commit suicide. However, she did not stop at diagnosis.
The final section of the book provides specific instructions for victims to recognize, respond and protect themselves, while calling on the community, law enforcement agencies and social organizations to recognize and handle mental violence as a real crime.
Not only for experts, the book is also a strong voice for victims of psychological trauma that cannot be proven by physical wounds. Marie-France Hirigoyen affirmed: Respecting, listening and protecting human dignity is the foundation of every civilized society.
