On October 15, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued a Plan to organize activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026.
According to the plan, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requires Tet care activities to be mainly carried out at grassroots trade unions, focusing on union members and workers who are directly producing. In particular, priority is given to union members and workers in especially difficult circumstances, those who have had work accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses, reduced working hours, job losses, unpaid wages and bonuses; union members and workers from policy families, ethnic minorities, who have not had the opportunity to return home for Tet for many years; union members and workers who stay at their units and enterprises to work, produce and do business during Tet; union officials and union members who travel far away due to the reorganization of the apparatus of the political system at all levels.
Caring activities must be practical, safe, effective, economical, comply with regulations, and be suitable to the actual needs of union members and workers at enterprises and localities, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere among union members and workers. Absolutely do not organize formal activities that are wasteful.
The plan requires organized activities to demonstrate the mark and role of trade unions in caring for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026; in general, the resources and subjects caring for the Lunar New Year 2026 must be greater than previous years.
The theme of activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026 is "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" with the motto "All union members and workers have Tet, enjoy Tet".
The General Confederation will organize delegations to visit, give gifts, and wish a happy New Year to union members and workers at enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones, etc. at enterprises and units with outstanding production and business results, large numbers of workers in difficult circumstances, low income, heavily affected by natural disasters, remote areas, arduous, toxic, dangerous occupations, etc. The expected expenditure level is 1,300,000 VND/person (including 1,000,000 VND in cash and 300,000 VND in gifts). The implementation budget is from the regular operating fund at the General Confederation level.
Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will attend and encourage union members and workers at the "Tet Sum Vay" Programs; "Union New Year Meals" held at grassroots unions.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will organize the "Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" program in person and online; organize buses, trains, and flights to take and pick up workers to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.
The plan also guides Tet care activities of provincial and municipal labor federations, central industry unions, economic group unions, and general corporation unions under the General Confederation.
At grassroots trade unions, the General Confederation guides the organization of activities: Organizing the "Tet Sum Vay" Program; visiting, giving gifts, wishing union members and workers a happy new year; grassroots trade unions coordinate and mobilize resources from enterprises, local authorities and higher-level trade unions to organize buses, trains, flights to take and pick up workers to their hometowns to celebrate Tet; organize the "Union New Year Meal" for Binh Ngo 2026 for union members and workers.
The grassroots trade union organizes activities to celebrate Spring, celebrate Tet, visit and encourage union members and workers who are unable to return home for Tet.
Grassroots trade unions base on the situation of union members and workers staying at enterprises and localities, not returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet to organize warm and joyful activities bearing the Union's mark. In case many union members and workers do not return home for Tet, organize the "Tet not far from home" program or other appropriate activities; pay attention to visiting, giving gifts, organizing Tet for workers in boarding houses or on construction sites, projects...
