Previously, on the page "Nha Trang - Review everything" spread an article by author M.H and a picture of Aroma Beach restaurant charging sky-high prices to foreign customers. The information caused outrage in the local tourism service business community.
Chairman Nguyen Tan Tuan assessed that during the recent Tet holidays, Khanh Hoa has maintained its friendly and peaceful tourism image. The Aroma Beach restaurant being accused of "overcharging" by customers is only a small number, not representative of the majority.
Aroma Beach Restaurant was accused of "overcharging", but did not cooperate with the authorities. On February 5, when the interdisciplinary inspection team of Nha Trang City came to inspect, the restaurant was closed. Representatives of the inspection team knocked on the door, called and asked for assistance from the local police. After nearly an hour, the restaurant owner still did not open the door.
So, for shops like Aroma Beach, it is necessary to "cut" them off. Local authorities clarify the violations, if there is enough evidence, they can revoke the business license. "Cut" a shop that sells "exorbitant" prices is to regulate business activities in the area.
As for the Aroma Beach restaurant, without waiting for the authorities to handle it, the restaurant had to close down and take down its signboard. This is the price to pay for dishonest business. The next price to pay is that if it reopens, it will be boycotted by tourists, because no one wants to be a victim of "price gouging".
In another case of "overcharging", on February 3 (the 6th day of Tet), a TikTok account named "bichhong38h1" posted information about a family going to Tan Mai restaurant for lunch and being "overcharged". On February 5, Market Management Team No. 4 (Phu Yen Market Management Department) issued a decision to administratively sanction Ms. Ngo Thi Kieu My Trang - owner of Tan Mai restaurant.
The restaurant owner was fined 8,250,000 VND - not a large amount, but the loss of customers turning away because of the bad reputation of "rip-offs" is the bigger loss.
Other restaurants should look at what has just happened to "correct" themselves. Dishonest business, "ripping off" customers and tourists, sooner or later will have to pay the price.
