Nghe An Provincial Party Committee has just issued Official Letter No. 2731 implementing the direction of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee regarding the organization of Party Congresses at the commune and ward levels for the 2025 - 2030 term.
Notably, the Official Dispatch requested the Party Committees of communes and wards to seriously implement two contents: Not organizing art programs to celebrate the congress and stopping buying gifts for the delegates attending.
This is a reasonable proposal that needs to be supported, not only for the humanity in the context that this locality is focusing on overcoming the consequences of floods that killed 4 people, caused material damage of more than VND 3,600 billion, but also in the aspect of avoiding forms and wasting money.
A few days earlier, Tu Mo Rong commune (Quang Ngai province) also had a similar request when it announced that it would not accept flowers to congratulate the Commune Party Congress (July 23 and 24.
Instead, the leaders of Tu Mo Rong commune called for support for seedlings, fertilizers and production materials to help the Xor Dang people develop sustainable livelihoods.
Both proposals, one from the commune level in the highlands of Quang Ngai, the other from the provincial level of Nghe An, have shown a very positive change in organizational thinking.
The success of a Party Congress at all levels should now be considered in terms of content, from personnel work - selecting the right people and the direction of socio-economic development for the locality - discussing the right work and direction. Finally, to further improve the material and spiritual life of the people in the coming term. The remaining art of celebrating, giving flowers or gifts is just an additional element.
And certainly, the simplicity in form and spending savings will not reduce the solemnity of the congress but, on the contrary, enhance the prestige of the Party organization in the hearts of local people. And that is also a way to "pracet thrift" as required by General Secretary To Lam.
The "practice of thrift", focusing on content like Nghe An province and Tu Mo Rong commune of Quang Ngai province, needs to be gradually expanded in all Party congresses of communes, wards and localities across the country.
And not only the Party Congress but also other congresses or annual meetings, localities should also "prove thrift" by gradually eliminating all forms of flower giving, welcoming art and cable gifts to spend time, effort, and money on other more practical and useful tasks for the people.
The above "Practice Thrift" helps convey a strong message of innovation in the political culture of localities after the merger and streamlining of the apparatus. These are activities of the Party organization and the government aimed at substance and practical effectiveness instead of formal rituals. And most importantly, the interests of the people are always at the center of all decisions.
