Gathering flowers to congratulate organizations and individuals is very normal, an indispensable part of the "culture" of congresses and events, especially Party Congresses at all levels.
However, recently, Tu Mo Rong commune (Quang Ngai province) chose a completely different approach when it announced that it would not accept flowers to congratulate the Commune Party Congress on July 23 and 24.
Instead, the leaders of Tu Mo Rong commune called for support for seedlings, fertilizers and production materials to help the Xor Dang people develop their livelihoods.
This action not only shows thrift and fighting waste, but also carries a profound message about development thinking and changes in the way Party congresses are organized and operated at the grassroots level.
Tu Mo Rong commune was recently established on the basis of merging two old communes of Kon Tum province (old), currently with about 1,300 households, of which the Xof Dang ethnic group accounts for 95%.
This is a mountainous area with many difficulties, a high rate of poor households, and a lack of production conditions.
Tu Mo Rong Commune Party Committee identified the key goal of the 2025 - 2030 term as increasing income, improving life, and creating a sustainable development model for the people.
Therefore, saying no to congratulatory flowers at the congress and on this occasion mobilizing social resources from individuals, organizations, businesses... to invest in exactly what people need: seedlings, agricultural supplies, supporting production is a step in line with the spirit of action, being close to the people and moving towards real values.
In the current time of merging and streamlining the apparatus, Tu Mo Rong's way of doing things can be considered a model for innovative thinking in the grassroots political system.
In particular, in the context of limited budgets and limited resources, each seedling and fertilizer package supported in the right place can make a real difference in people's lives.
Not accepting congratulatory flowers does not reduce the solemnity and success of the Commune Party Congress. On the contrary, it enhances the value of the event by clearly demonstrating the leadership and service nature of the Party organization at the grassroots level.
This also conveys a positive message that: the congress is not only an opportunity to summarize and set out directions, but also a starting point for specific actions, bringing practical and sustainable benefits to the people.
In the context of the whole country promoting the transformation of the development model, promoting sustainable poverty reduction, small but successful initiatives, just like in Tu Mo Rong commune, are the seeds that need to be welcomed, recognized and spread to many other communes in Quang Ngai and the whole country.
Grassroots government is close to the people, serving the people better, not just words but needs to start with such concrete actions.
