Do not leave people alone between the matrix of counterfeit goods of food and medicine

Hoàng Văn Minh |

Vietnamese people have never had to face the same sense of insecurity as they do now when from meals to medicine, there are fake goods and toxic chemicals.

No more bean sprouts "deprecated" in chemicals... to modern medicine, then milk supplemented with nutrients, supporting patients in the hospital was discovered to be fake... Recent findings have led to constant worry from food trays, medicine cabinets, to hospital beds of people.

This picture has shown that our current food and drug control system still has many shortcomings and delays in warning and preventing, even though many agencies and units are assigned to manage.

Remember 16 years ago - in 2009, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development at that time, Mr. Cao Duc Phat, warned on the National Assembly forum about the situation of "five ministries, branches and localities guarding a day's meal together": the Ministry of Health, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Science and Technology, and the People's Committee of the locality are all managing it, but no one is fully responsible, leading to widespread counterfeit food and fake medicine.

Recently, on April 17, when speaking at the Conference of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (Fatherland Front) for the third time, Session X, Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan - Former Vice President, Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front repeated the story of "a tray of 5 managers". And again asking the question "Who is the responsibility?" Regarding the case of fake milk, fake drugs.

There is a very old reality that even if there are 5 ministries, branches and localities that "manage a tray of rice", when an incident occurs, each agency has a reason to say that "it is not under its management", as the Ministry of Industry and Trade has just said it is not under its management - when talking about fake milk recently.

At that time, people, although insecure and worried, still have no choice but to continue to consume, treat diseases, and accept risks in the context of lacking more effective warning and protection mechanisms.

People are alone and cannot afford to defend themselves with fake food Matters and new drugs. Therefore, it is necessary to have a truly strong, independent, and un overlapping, inter-sectoral control mechanism as before.

The responsibility of each link in this inter-sectoral mechanism, from licensing, testing, distribution, bidding to consumption... must be operated according to the principle: people's health and tree breeds are paramount.

And any bottlenecks or laxity of any stage in this state management chain must be strictly handled. Accompanyed are strong, clear and responsible action commitments from public authorities.

Society cannot develop, life cannot be peaceful and decent if people do not know where to put their trust when answering the questions: what to eat cleanly, what to drink healthyly, how to treat diseases for safety!
