Then there are some films by foreign filmmakers that chose to film in Vietnam, such as “Kong: Skull Island” which was filmed in Ninh Binh and Quang Binh provinces. The world was even more impressed with the beautiful country of Vietnam after this blockbuster. Not to mention some previous films such as “The Lover” (1991), “Indochina” (1992), “The Quiet American” (2002)…
But frankly speaking, we have not fully exploited the country's natural, cultural and historical resources to produce excellent cinematographic works, nor are we capable enough to invite world-famous filmmakers to choose Vietnam as a filming location with many majestic natural spaces and beautiful landscapes.
Vietnam has natural heritages that the world admires such as Phong Nha - Ke Bang with its famous cave system, Ha Long Bay that travel enthusiasts wish to visit once, the Mekong Delta river region with unique floating markets, mangrove forests, and tropical cajuput forests.
There are lands that are chosen by the world's leading travel sites to rank number 1. Typically, in 2023, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) honored Tan Hoa as the best tourist village in the world. In 2022, Travel and Leisure Magazine (USA) ranked Ninh Binh in the list of 12 most beautiful filming locations in Asia. In 2023, Ninh Binh won the prestigious tourist award, being the only representative of Vietnam to be in the Top 10 friendliest destinations in the world.
Not to mention the historical and cultural sites that are known to the world such as Hue, Hoi An, My Son, but the highlands and mountains that have entered poetry and music such as Da Lat, Pleiku, Tam Dao, Ba Vi...
Domestic filmmakers try to exploit the landscapes of their homeland, producing films that can cross national borders and reach audiences in many countries, so that they can know more about Vietnam.
Vietnam’s tourism industry must also attract world filmmakers, just like attracting investors. If we want them to come, we must introduce our country, have appropriate policies to support them, and commit to creating a favorable environment worthy of them investing in “blockbuster” film projects.
