In the stages of the revolution, when the country faced great challenges, the final decisive force was still the strength of the people. But that strength can only become an organized, oriented force, capable of creating social change when it is gathered, converged and promoted through a suitable institution. That institution is the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
The special feature of the Vietnam Fatherland Front lies in the fact that this is the largest gathering of classes, classes, ethnicities, religions, and Vietnamese people at home and abroad. The Front is a place where workers, farmers, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, artists, religious dignitaries, ethnic minorities, overseas Vietnamese... meet in a common denominator: Patriotism, aspiration for development and responsibility to the Fatherland.
In the new context, the role of the Front as a bridge between the Party, State and people is of particular significance. A strong political system is not only in the ability to issue guidelines and policies, but also in the ability to listen to the people, understand the people, rely on the people and be subject to the people's supervision. The Front is an important channel for the opinions, aspirations, and recommendations of the people to the Party and State; and also a place to convey guidelines and policies to the people with persuasion, consensus and trust.
In nearly 96 years of formation and development, through congresses, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has affirmed itself as a "direct and sustainable bridge between the Party and the people", a place to express the will, aspirations and right to mastery of the people in the widest way; and at the same time an institution to realize the principle of great national unity in political life.
The 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2026-2031, is both an important political event for the Front system alone and an opportunity to look back and more clearly establish the role of the Front in the new development stage of the country. When the country sets out the goal of rapid and sustainable development, improving people's lives, building a socialist rule-of-law state, promoting digital transformation, innovation and deep international integration, the requirement to build social consensus becomes even more urgent.
Social consensus must be formed from dialogue, listening, explaining, persuading and joint action. This is the core operating space of the Front. The Front does not replace the State, does not replace member organizations, but plays a role in connecting, regulating, arousing and promoting common strength. In many major issues of the country, from policy making, supervising law enforcement, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people, to mobilizing patriotic emulation movements, the role of the Front is always clearly shown in its ability to create consensus.
In particular, the function of supervision and social criticism of the Front is increasingly meaningful in building a rule-of-law state, controlling power and preventing and combating the situation of alienation from the people, bureaucracy, and formalism. A correct policy not only needs to be well designed on paper, but also needs to be verified in life. The Front, with its wide network and attachment to grassroots levels, has the conditions to detect inadequacies from practice, reflect the voice of the people, contributing to making policies closer to life.
Great national unity is a priceless asset of the Vietnamese revolution. The Vietnam Fatherland Front is the place to preserve, nurture and promote that asset. In the new term, when the country faces both great opportunities and great challenges, the role of the Front becomes even more important.
A Front that is close to the people, understands the people, respects the people, and relies on the people will be the foundation for consolidating social trust. A Front that knows how to listen and criticize will contribute to making the public apparatus operate more transparently and effectively. A Front that knows how to arouse aspirations and gather resources will turn the spirit of great unity into development strength.
The 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front not only sets tasks for one term, but also sends a big message: In every stage of the country's development, the people are always the center, great unity is always the source of strength, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front will continue to affirm its role as a place to gather and promote the strength of national great unity spirit, for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization.
