The incident in which Ms. N.TM.K, from Vinh Phuoc 1 Primary School, Nha Trang, was teaching in class when a father and son stormed into the schoolyard, grabbed her by the neck, tore her shirt and humiliated her has been investigated by the police.
The person who assaulted and humiliated the teacher will certainly be dealt with appropriately. Especially when the incident caused shock and outrage in public opinion nationwide.
Sadly, cases such as parents breaking into a school and beating a student in Tam Ky, Quang Nam and being fined 8 million VND or a group of young men breaking into a school and beating a teacher in Nghe An to the point of hospitalization... are no longer isolated cases.
Such hooliganism and violence are not only a violation of the law, but also a betrayal of the nation's fine tradition of "respecting teachers and valuing education". For generations, teachers have always been considered symbols of knowledge and morality, and the ones who steer the boat to bring the young generation to the shore of the future. Schools have always been considered a "sacred temple", but now they are being trampled and blatantly insulted.
The press has spoken out a lot, and the authorities have also stepped in to handle the situation. But perhaps, even strict administrative measures are not enough.
Breaking into schools and causing violence against children and teachers is not only a violation of the law, but should be seen as a degradation of awareness and moral values, deserving of contempt and shunning.
We cannot just wait until something happens to deal with it, but need fundamental, synchronous solutions to prevent evil. And more importantly, we must not let it affect the spirit and awareness of students - especially when they have to witness violence and moral violations right in school like this.
This is a common sadness of the whole community. But if we only consider it as a normal violation of the law, just handle it administratively and let it go, then it is very possible that these anti-educational behaviors will gradually become a "normal phenomenon", a "familiar" thing in society.
Of course, it cannot be denied that in the educational environment, there are still some “bad apples” that spoil the barrel. Teachers with substandard behavior need to be severely punished to clean up the team and restore purity to the educational environment. However, that does not mean that anyone can be allowed to invade schools and assault teachers. It must be clearly stated that schools are special spaces that need to be nurtured with love, respect, and protected at all costs.
To build a better society, first of all, we need to have respect, love and kindness as core values in schools.
