On April 9, the Russian Defense Ministry said that eight Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attacked the Korenovskaya station of the TurkStream gas pipeline overnight. All UAVs were shot down by Russian air defense systems, thanks to which the Korenovskaya station was not damaged.
The attack took place from 11:38 p.m. on April 8 to 1:26 a.m. on April 9 ( moscow time), targeting the Korenovskaya gas compresssion plant in the Krasnodar region.
The attacked station acted as a power supply for TurkStream - a gas pipeline carrying Russian gas to Turkey across the Black Sea. The station's annual gas transport capacity is up to 31.5 billion m3.
Also according to the Russian Defense Ministry, within the previous 24 hours, Ukraine attacked energy infrastructure in Russia's Kursk and Rostov provinces and Russian-controlled territory in Zaporizhzhia of Ukraine.
In addition, at 2:30 a.m. on April 9, Ukraine deployed two UAVs to attack the Temryuk gas distribution station - which supplies gas to the city and the port of Temryuk. Both UAVs were shot down at a safe distance.
The Russian Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of "nearly stopped attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure since March 18".
According to Reuters, the Russian Defense Ministry said on April 9 that Ukraine had carried out 6 strikes on Russia's energy infrastructure in just one day, violating a US-intermediated mutual ceasefire.
Russia and Ukraine have agreed to stop attacking each other's energy facilities since last month, but both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the deal.
In another development, on the same day, Roman Chumak - General Director of the National Gas Group of Ukraine Naftogaz - said that the country had restored 50% of its gas production capacity that was destroyed in Russian long-range airstrikes in February.
