On November 24, Major General, Dr. Le Huu Song - Director of 108 Central Military Hospital, said: on November 22, the Hospital successfully performed a multi-organ transplant from a brain-dead donor. This is the second multiple organ transplant from a brain-dead donor in November at the Hospital. In 2 consecutive weeks in November, the Hospital has revived the lives of 29 patients, bringing light, faith and a new future to patients and their families.
For this brain-dead transplant, 108 Military Central Hospital will organize the collection of: heart; 02 kidneys (including one male soldier patient); liver (divided into liver for transplant to 02 patients: right liver thus for 01 male soldier at 108 Military Central Hospital, coordinated and transported the left liver thus to Vinmec Hospital for transplant to 01 year old baby); 02 corneas were taken for preservation, waiting for transplant to 02 patients; and coordinated lung organs to the Central Lung Hospital.

The brain-dead donor was a 42-year-old male patient, diagnosed as brain-dead due to a major brain hemorrhage in the right morning Galaxy and cerebral hemorrhage. Although the doctors actively treated the patient, luck did not come to the patient and his family.
After receiving information about the patient's condition, the patient's family agreed to donate organs to save 6 patients waiting for a chance to live.
As soon as the Organ Transplant Center of 108 Central Military Hospital received the notification, the entire transplant system from the subcommittees, departments, and rooms was immediately activated. From coordination, patient preparation, resuscitation, testing, anesthesia, surgery... all operate synchronously and urgently. At 10:00 a.m. on November 22, the nearly two-hour consultation chaired by Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc - Deputy Director of the Hospital agreed on the entire transplant plan.
At 1:45 p.m. the same day, the surgical teams officially started the multi- organ transplant. Five operating rooms were activated at the same time.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Ly - Head of the Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation, 108 Central Military Hospital said: Just a message about a multiple organ transplant, whether late at night or on a day off, all staff are immediately ready. When the consultation concluded, after only one hour, the entire Giai An Cach Cach team arrived. With current professional qualifications and equipment, we can perform all types of organ transplants at the same time.
The smooth coordination between transplant teams and between many hospitals shows a system of organ donation and transplantation operating professionally, all for the hope that patients have sent.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Quang - Deputy Head of the Department of liver - Thoracic Surgery, 108 Central Military Hospital emphasized: "In multi- member transplantation, time is the vital factor. The heart only has about 4 hours of anemia; the liver is optimal for 68 hours. Thanks to the extensive experience from many previous transplants, this time we have prepared the best for every step".
In particular, the liver transplant was performed using the abdominal liver division technique - this is the 9th case the hospital has applied this complex technique. In the heart transplant, the recipient was a 68-year-old male patient with stage III heart failure. At exactly 5:28 p.m., the first beat of a new heart appeared on a monitor screen - a sacred moment marking a revival.
After the transplant, the patients all had favorable developments: The liver transplant patient was alert and had his endotracheal tube removed right in the operating room; the heart transplant patient had stable and dynamic blood; two cases of good urine transplant and good health progress.
