15 national highway and railway congestion points were severely damaged by heavy rain and floods

Traffic in many Central and Central Highlands provinces was severely affected by a particularly heavy flood, a series of landslides and flooding caused traffic congestion.

A quick report from the Civil Defense Command of the Ministry of Construction at 7:00 a.m. on November 24, 2025 shows that traffic in many Central and Central Highlands provinces continues to be severely affected by a particularly heavy flood, with a series of landslides and flooding causing road traffic congestion and disrupting railway transport.

According to the Ministry of Construction, implementing the Central Government's direction on supporting affected localities, the Ministry's leaders and representatives of affiliated units have been assigned to the site in Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Lam Dong to grasp the situation and directly direct the recovery of the consequences.

Units in the industry are required to be on duty 24/24 hours, fully implement the "4 on-site" motto and regularly update flood developments to promptly respond.

Although the national highways managed by the Central Government have been opened to traffic, there are still 15 locations of traffic jams on the national highways managed by the locality. Khanh Hoa alone recorded 12 landslides on National Highway 27C, including some sections with negative slopes and some sections had to request Military Region 5 to support blasting to break rocks to clear obstacles.

It is expected that by 6:00 p.m. on November 25, this route will only be open to one lane. Meanwhile, Lam Dong still has three locations blocked, including one point on National Highway 27C and two points on National Highway 20 at D'ran Pass and Mimosa Pass, the expected route is from November 25 to November 30. Localities have arranged traffic flow and directed vehicles to move to replacement routes.

Along with the road, the railway system also suffered particularly heavy damage. A total of 61 landslides and roadbed drift points have been recorded, of which 15 are still being urgently handled. Many sections of the railway in the Dong Tac - Phu Hiep and Phu Hiep - Hao Son sections have been washed away, with some sections having their roads 3m deep, even 4m wide. The construction is facing many difficulties because it can only be accessed by rail. It is expected that the route will not be opened until November 27 with a train speed limit of 5 km/h.

The railway incident forced the railway industry to temporarily suspend 44 passenger trains, causing more than 21,000 tickets to be refunded. Thousands of passengers were stranded at many stations along the route, of which Dieu Tri station alone had 145 passengers on train SE1 and Thap Cham station had 19 passengers on train SE8.

The Railway industry has organized the provision of nearly 9,400 free main meals and more than 6,100 side meals to support passengers while waiting for the incident to be resolved.

In contrast to the situation of roads and railways, aviation and maritime activities are still basically normal. Tuy Hoa airport has resumed stable operations and has not recorded any flights being delayed or canceled due to weather. The Landing Area Control (LOC) is under repair and is expected to be completed by November 30. Maritime and inland waterway activities also did not record any significant incidents.

The Ministry of Construction believes that the traffic damage this time is very large, especially in the South Central region and the Central Highlands. Forces are deploying a 24/7 repair to soon reopen the route, ensure traffic safety, support rescue work and meet the essential travel needs of the people.
