Weight loss is not an easy journey, especially for those who have dieted strictly and maintained exercise but their weight remains unchanged.
According to experts, the reason sometimes does not lie in your lack of effort, but comes from habits and foods that seem harmless but silently sabotage the weight loss process.
Dr. Rizwan Chaudhry, a certified bariatric surgeon and general surgeon in Houston, Texas (USA), said many of his patients were in a state of depression because they had not seen results despite their great efforts.
Mr. Rizwan Chaudhry pointed out 4 things that should be eliminated as soon as possible if you want to lose weight effectively and sustainably.
1. Vegetable oil and seed oil
According to Dr. Chaudhry, canola oil, corn oil, soy oil, grape seed oil... are highly refined industrial oils.
They can cause inflammation, affect liver function and make the body more susceptible to excess fat storage. Regular consumption of these oils is believed to contribute to increased obesity rates.
Instead, doctors recommend using natural fat sources such as butter, ghee oil, olive oil or avocado oil.
These fats not only help you feel full longer but also support hormone balance and better energy metabolism.
2. Coffee, especially in the afternoon
Coffee can temporarily help keep you alert, but drinking caffeine later in the day is detrimental to the weight loss process.
Dr Chaudhry warns that caffeine stimulates the body to secrete stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, sending a signal of "keeping fat" instead of burning fat.
In addition, afternoon or evening coffee also disrupts sleep. When you do not sleep deep enough, your metabolism is not reset, thereby directly affecting your ability to control your weight.
3. Alcohol
Even a small amount of alcohol can significantly slow down the weight loss process. According to Dr. Chaudhry, there is research showing that drinking alcohol, even if not much, can still effectively reduce weight by up to 50% or cause weight gain to increase again.
He recommends avoiding alcohol completely for at least one to two months. Many people will find their bodies more relaxed, their spirits clear, their energy improves significantly and their weight begins to decrease again.
4. C shot salad dressing
Salad is a healthy choice, but bottled sauces can turn it into a "fat trap". Most industrial sauces contain vegetable oils, sugar and additives, which can easily increase insulin.
Dr. Chaudhry notes that the label of low in fat on the product often means a lot of sugar. A better solution is to make your own simple sauce from olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. This method is both delicious and helps salads truly promote their weight loss support effects.
