4 dishes to limit to reduce the burden on the kidneys

Eating a lot of processed foods for a long time can easily affect kidney function.

The kidneys play an important role in filtering the blood, eliminating toxins and balancing electrolytes for the body. However, many daily eating habits unintentionally increase pressure on this organ. Experts recommend limiting some dishes if you want to protect kidney function in the long term.

The first is processed foods such as sausages, bacon, instant noodles. These products contain a lot of salt and preservatives, which can increase the risk of high blood pressure, a direct factor that harms the kidneys.

Second, the food is too salty. According to the National Kidney Foundation (USA), consuming more salt than 5g/day can make the kidneys work harder to excrete sodium, leading to long-term damage.

Third, foods high in sugar such as cakes and carbonated soft drinks. Excessive sugar consumption can cause obesity and diabetes - two diseases closely related to kidney failure. Controlling your sugar intake is an important step to reduce the risk of chronic kidney failure, emphasizes Dr. Sharon Moe, a kidney specialist at Indiana University (USA).

Finally, the red meat. Eating too much red meat increases the production of uric acid and nitrates, putting pressure on the kidneys when filtering. Studies published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology also show that consuming a lot of red meat is associated with the risk of early kidney failure.

Experts recommend that, to protect the kidneys, you should maintain a balanced diet, increase green vegetables, fresh fruits, fish and whole grains. Limiting the above 4 food groups will help reduce the burden on the kidneys and maintain sustainable health.
