In June 2012, the beautiful love story of teacher Bui Thi Giang and sailor Tran Van Thien entered a new beginning with a happy wedding after nearly 3 years of love and understanding.
"Because of the nature of his job, Mr. Thien often works far away, so I want to have children soon to ease the loneliness of being away from my husband," Ms. Giang confided.
Feeling sorry for his wife who had to work hard and take so much medicine that it affected her health, in 2013, while going to a company in Hai Phong, Mr. Thien was consulted by a friend and went for a reproductive health check-up. The results of the examination at that time showed that Mr. Thien was infertile, the doctor said the cause could be complications from the mumps that Mr. Thien had when he was a child.
Shocked by the examination results, Ms. Giang and Mr. Thien decided to pack up and go to a central hospital for a re-examination, but the results returned, still requiring IVF.
"The desire to have a baby was so great that even though at that time we did not have enough financial resources, my husband and I were determined to borrow money everywhere to start the process of IVF at a hospital recommended by an acquaintance," said Ms. Giang.
The first time she did IVF, she thought happiness was very close, but after 2 unsuccessful embryo transfers, Ms. Giang fell into a state of sadness and anxiety. Every time she saw a line on the pregnancy test stick, her heart ached with pain, tears welled up in her eyes because her dream of becoming a mother still could not come true.
On the journey of finding a child after nearly 7 years of infertility, Giang and her husband had to endure many economic difficulties and prejudices from society, but it was the understanding and encouragement of their family members that was the great spiritual strength that helped them confidently continue waiting for the day of "reaping sweet fruit".
In 2017, Ms. Giang accidentally learned about the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital. She started looking for stories of couples who had been infertile for decades and had successfully welcomed their babies here. Waiting for the summer vacation to come, when her husband had just finished a long train trip and was home on leave, the couple started going to the hospital for check-ups.
Luckily, that time, Giang and her husband created 9 embryos on day 5. After the first unsuccessful fresh embryo transfer, Giang decided to go home to rest and 4 months later returned to the hospital to transfer the frozen embryos. At the end of 2017, Giang and Thien's whole family burst into happiness when they heard the doctor announce for the first time that she had successfully transferred the embryos after 2 IVF cycles and 3 previous failed embryo transfers.
On September 10, 2018, the first little princess cried out in the boundless joy of both paternal and maternal families.
In December 2020, Ms. Giang returned to the hospital to transfer the remaining frozen embryos and luck smiled again, two new "lifes" formed in her body. On August 19, 2021, the two princesses Tran Cat Thien Di and Tran Cat Thien An were born, making Ms. Giang's family life even more meaningful.
"It's true that all efforts are rewarded, our daughter came to us like a dream after many months of waiting" - Ms. Giang happily shared.
In order to share the economic burden with infertile families, Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital has launched the preferential program "Nurturing green shoots, IVF warranty".
