According to information from the Center, the baby was born at 10:00 a.m. on July 1, 2025 by cesarean section. The girl is rosy, cried loudly, and has good reflexes, and is currently being closely monitored to prevent the risk of hypoglycemia due to her large weight. The mother gave birth at the age of 34.
The mother's family said that during her pregnancy, she gained 20kg and her health was completely stable. At 38 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy, the mother showed signs of labor and was taken to Cam Khe District Medical Center for delivery. This is the mother's second birth, before that in 2017, she had a cesarean section for a 4.1kg boy.
Dr. Ha Thi Hai Huong - Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Reproductive Health Care said: According to the National Guidelines on Reproductive Health Care Services (2016), a large pregnancy is a condition in which the fetus weighs 3.5kg or more. An enlarged pregnancy can affect both mother and baby during pregnancy and especially during labor. In this case, we need to closely monitor after giving birth to prevent the risk of thrombosis for the mother due to poor uterine contractions and the risk of hypoglycemia in the child".
Doctor Huong recommends that during pregnancy, pregnant mothers need to have a full periodic pregnancy check-up to monitor the development of the fetus. A large pregnancy has many potential risks during labor such as difficult delivery, large surgical wounds, and damage to the baby or mother, so it is necessary to monitor and prescribe appropriate birth at professional medical facilities. At the same time, a scientific diet, rest and weight control during pregnancy will contribute to protecting the health of both mother and baby.
