On the afternoon of September 30, the Can Tho City Department of Health held a conference to officially announce the implementation of electronic medical records and launch the Can Tho City Health Sector Data Portal.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Quoc Cuong - Director of Can Tho City Department of Health - said that this is an important event, marking a new step forward in the process of digital transformation of the health sector, implementing the policies of the Government, the Ministry of Health and the direction of the City People's Committee on deploying electronic medical records.
According to the Director of the Can Tho City Department of Health, the implementation of electronic medical records not only replaces traditional paper medical records, but also aims at the goal of "teducated healthcare" contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, increasing transparency, reducing administrative procedures, and saving costs.

At the same time, this supports the management and operation of the health sector, contributing to connecting and sharing health data with national systems, better serving the people; at the same time, it is a strategic step towards building a "smart hospital" model.
Today's announcement ceremony not only affirms the determination of the Can Tho health sector in moving towards a paperless hospital, but also opens a new journey to improve the effectiveness of people's health care, emphasized the Director of the Can Tho City Department of Health.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Viet Nga - Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Can Tho City - said that Can Tho has 61 medical facilities with hospital beds. Of which, there are 43 public health facilities (23 hospitals, 20 health centers), 5 central hospitals, and 13 non-public hospitals.
By September 29, 2025, 100% of medical facilities with hospital beds in Can Tho city had announced the implementation of electronic medical records.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - stated that this is a very proud result, demonstrating the high determination of the entire health sector, the support of hospitals, and the close coordination of departments and branches in the city.

In addition to the achieved results, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City suggested that the health sector continue to complete and effectively operate electronic medical records, ensuring information safety, security and data quality.
In addition, it is necessary to connect and share health data of the national database with relevant industry and field databases to contribute to the effective implementation of Project 06 of the Government.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City requested to continue to improve the capacity to apply digital technology for doctors, nurses, and health workers; coordinate with relevant agencies to strengthen communication so that people understand, trust and make the most of the benefits from electronic medical records. Promote the application of artificial intelligence, big data, digital health in diagnosis, treatment and public health management.
