In early August, Da Nang Hospital received a young patient who suffered an electric shock leading to cardiac arrest, transferred from the Da Nang City 115 Emergency Center.
Immediately after doctors from the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department (HSTCCD) held a quick consultation with doctors from the Emergency Department, the interdisciplinary red alert system was activated according to the emergency stopped circulation procedure using the artificial cardiopulmonary system (ECMO).
Although at that time the patient had no relatives to complete the administrative procedures, the hospital's Board of Directors directed: by all means, the young patient must be given maximum treatment, and all treatment costs must be temporarily approved.
According to Dr. Ha Son Binh - Head of the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology, in the same assessment with the doctors on duty, the patient was admitted to the hospital in a very serious condition: purple completion, deep coma, respiratory arrest and circulatory arrest lasting more than 30 minutes from the time of detection to admission. However, the medical team is still determined to fight to the end to save the patient's life.

The red alert system was deployed smoothly: doctors in the Emergency Department performed cardiopulmonary pressures, hotpot pumping to support breathing with high doses of oxygen to maintain life; at the same time, specialists in Cardiology, Anesthesia and Resuscitation and HSTCCD quickly coordinated to establish an extracorporeal circulatory system (ECMO) to support circulation and breathing.
After nearly 3 weeks of intensive treatment at the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology, despite the patient having multiple organ damage and a very serious condition, thanks to the persistent efforts and the highest determination of the whole hospital, the patient has fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital in the joy of the family and medical staff of Da Nang Hospital.
This is a spectacular revival, seemingly returning from the dead. Doctor Binh shared that the patient was young and was lucky that the 115 Emergency Team performed continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation, applying standard heart pressure to maintain blood flow to the brain. Immediately afterwards, the teams in Da Nang Hospital coordinated smoothly, racing against time to save the patient's life.
