Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City was awarded a certificate by leading medical equipment group Medtronic (USA) for this achievement on February 26, affirming the outstanding progress of the domestic interventional cardiology industry, and bringing Vietnamese medicine closer to the most modern treatment standards in the world, bringing many outstanding benefits to patients.
On this occasion, TTND. GS. TS. BS Vo Thanh Nhan, Director of the Interventional Cardiology Center, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, was also awarded the certificate of achievement "Expert in successfully performing the implantation of the Micra AV wireless pacemaker - The first generation 2 in Vietnam". Previously, he was honored by Medtronic as the first Vietnamese doctor to be recognized as an independent expert (Solo Operator) and training expert (Proctor) for wireless pacemaker implantation in Vietnam.
As of February 2026, Vietnam has performed 79 cases of wireless pacemaker implantation with many different generations of equipment. Professor Vo Thanh Nhan himself is the "Expert in performing the most cases of wireless pacemaker implantation" with 57 cases, including the latest generation wireless device, with a success rate of 100%.

Mr. Mongkol Sankum, General Director of Medtronic Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, said that Micra AV2 is the latest generation of wireless pacemaker in the world, assessed as a breakthrough compared to traditional wired pacemakers, compact size only equal to capsules, weighing about 2g, lighter up to 93% compared to conventional wired pacemakers (28g). The device is delivered directly into the heart chamber through the thigh vein - a minimally invasive intervention method.
Compared to the popular wired pacemaker currently available, the Micra AV2 wireless pacemaker has outstanding advantages such as a short implantation procedure time of only 30-45 minutes, no need to create a subcutaneous implant, painless, no scars left, helping the patient's heart beat more stably.
In particular, this method is the optimal indication for cases of keloid scar constitution, metal allergies, or overweight. Patients are alert throughout the intervention process and can walk again after a day.

In addition, Micra AV2 has the ability to automatically synchronize the atrium and ventricles more intelligently and accurately, helping to detect arrhythmia early and generate electrical impulses in time when the heart beats too slowly or stops beating. The device's lifespan can be up to 16 years, limiting the need to replace the machine many times.
We see this as a major step forward in the continuous development of cardiology, with the goal of bringing better and better benefits to patients," Mr. Mongkol Sankum shared.
Mr. Mongkol Sankum added that wireless pacemaker implantation is a difficult technique, which needs to be performed in hospitals equipped with modern interventional cardiology rooms or Hybrid operating rooms, a professional team, close inter-specialized coordination, and highly specialized doctors. Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City is one of the few medical facilities to implement this technique thanks to meeting the strict criteria for equipment and a leading team of cardiovascular experts.

Accordingly, the Interventional Cardiovascular Center, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, has the world's leading modern machinery system, specializing in the field of cardiology such as digital background scanning (DSA) system, coronary lumen ultrasound (IVUS), artificial intelligence (AI) application heart ultrasound machine, endovascular photogenic tomography (OCT) system, electrocardiogram of endurance, cardiovascular ultrasound of endurance, 1975 slicing CT machine system, "super CT machine" Somatom Force VB30 with more than 100,000 slices applying artificial intelligence (AI) to help detect early heart rhythm disorders, coronary artery diseases, valve diseases, congenital heart diseases...
Previously, in July 2025 and November 2025, the Center was awarded the prestigious certificate "Independent Center for performing TAVI (aortic valve implantation via catheter)" - the most advanced and difficult cardiovascular intervention technique, demonstrating the professional qualifications of the medical team, modern facilities, and high-tech equipment, world-leading here.
