On May 30, Dr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) signed a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health regarding a medical incident that occurred during a chest lift and liposuction at the Paris Dentistry and Aesthetics Hospital on May 28, 2025.
According to the content of the document, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment said that it had received a reflection on the above case. This agency asked the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City to urgently verify, check and evaluate the cause of the incident and strictly handle it if the mistake was detected. At the same time, the Department needs to have a plan to overcome and support patients in time, ensuring compliance with the law on medical examination and treatment.
The Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management also requested the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to send a report on the verification results to the Ministry of Health (through the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management) before June 4, 2025.
Regarding the complication leading to death after surgery for delayed thoracic suspension and bicep emulsion at Paris Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said it had transferred the case to the investigation agency.
Previously, on May 28, Ms. P.T.T.D (32 years old) went to the hospital for surgery. After sucking up big belly fat, when the doctor continued to drain her right chest, she appeared quickly, suspecting anesthetic poisoning. The patient had cardiac arrest and vibratory events, was resuscitated and transferred to Thong Nhat Hospital but died at 0:15 on May 29.
After the incident, Paris Hospital temporarily suspended all procedures and cosmetic surgery from May 29. Previously, in September 2024, this facility was suspended for 3 months and fined 90 million VND for causing complications for patients.
