Vietnamese Obstetrics and Gynecology approaches world level
On May 14, Tu Du Hospital organized the 26th Vietnam - France - Asia - Pacific Obstetrics and Gynecology Conference (OGVFAP 2026).

Speaking at the conference, BS.CK2 Tran Ngoc Hai - Director of Tu Du Hospital sent congratulations on the achievements of Obstetrics and Gynecology medicine in Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, which have reached the regional and world level in some fields such as laparoscopic surgery; in vitro fertilization; fetal medicine from early diagnosis to fetal intervention; transuterine fetal valve nodular intervention; molecular medicine in early screening...
The knowledge will be spread and deployed to many areas in Vietnam through the tuyến direction of Tu Du Hospital as well as some hospitals assigned by the Ministry of Health.

Doctor Tran Ngoc Hai emphasized that this year's conference is a place for scientists to present, discuss, and exchange experiences, especially new trends in the world in examination and treatment: early diagnosis - accuracy, minimal intervention.
This year's conference lasts until May 15, gathering many leading domestic and international experts, professors, and doctors. The scientific program is built on a scale of about 80 - 90 thematic reports, practical workshops, in-depth discussion sessions... spanning many key areas of modern obstetrics and gynecology.
14 first fetal intervention cases in Vietnam
Within the framework of the conference, the world fetal intervention session and Tu Du Hospital received much attention.
Sharing about the role of ultrasound in fetal intervention, BS.CK2 Do Thi Cam Giang - Children's Hospital 1 - said that the fetal heart is very small and mobile continuously, with limited space, while the target valve is very small, just a slight deviation can lead to serious consequences. Ultrasound is not just an image but also plays a role as a navigation map and a monitoring system throughout the intervention process.

Each case requires a different approach. However, from about the 11th case onwards, the team has a more stable approach strategy, more convenient instruments to put in, easier valve access position, less risk of needle puncture and limited risk of complications.
The best path is not the most beautiful path like case number 1, but the path that the team can control" - Dr. Giang emphasized.
Sharing about the results of the first 14 fetal intervention cases in Vietnam, BS.CK2 Trinh Nhut Thu Huong - Head of Prenatal Care Department of Tu Du Hospital said that the results achieved help the team be more confident in their ability to master intervention techniques. The next step that the group aims for is to standardize data, because all cases are carefully recorded with pre- and post-intervention parameters, and at the same time, continue to monitor children until now.
According to Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, to date, the team of Tu Du Hospital in coordination with Children's Hospital 1 has performed 14 fetal cardiac interventions. Among them, 13/14 cases were technically successful and 13 fetuses were saved.
This achievement is the result of close coordination between 2 specialized hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, from prenatal diagnosis, fetal intervention to resuscitation and postpartum treatment. This combination not only helps improve the chances of survival for fetuses with severe congenital heart defects but also contributes to bringing Vietnam's fetal heart intervention technique to mark on the world medical map.
