Since the beginning of the year, the whole province has recorded more than 1,000 cases of dengue fever, detecting 185 outbreaks in 67 communes and wards; of which 12 outbreaks are active. Dengue fever is a disease that occurs all year round, but this is the peak of the epidemic.
The health sector has directed localities to strengthen containment and thoroughly handle outbreaks within 48 hours. Along with that is an environmental sanitation campaign, widespread chemical spraying and disease of mosquito larvae at outbreaks and high-risk areas.

In Phan That residential group, Tra Cau ward, from the beginning of September 2025 to now, 22 cases of dengue fever have been recorded. In particular, the family of Ms. Tran Thi Y (residing in Phan That residential group, Tra Cau ward) has three sick people. After being instructed by health workers, Ms. Y and her family proactively cleaned the house and washed the water containers to remove mosquito larvae and ticks.
Ms. Tran Thi Y expressed: "Now that there are instructors, I also follow, clean the house, not leave wastewater haphazardly. When my children and grandchildren are sleeping, remind them to spread the sunglasses.
After the outbreak in Tra Cau ward, local health station staff promptly sprayed medicine to handle the outbreaks, preventing them from spreading. The health force has increased supervision, going to each household with a case to guide and propagate the killing of mosquito larvae and earthworms, and coordinating with schools to propagate to students. Many people have also proactively coordinated with medical staff to prevent diseases for their families and the community.
Mr. Nguyen Van Pho - Head of Tra Cau Ward Health Station, Quang Ngai Province - said: "When detecting serious cases, we instruct people to go to the nearest medical facility for advice, examination and necessary testing, to limit cases of serious condition. In addition, the health station also regularly monitors all cases and assesses the situation to advise the Ward People's Committee on appropriate handling measures".
Mr. Huynh Huu Ho - Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Center for Disease Control of Quang Ngai province - said: the origin of dengue fever is caused by disease-carrying mosquitoes, which breed from mosquito larvae and worms. Therefore, to effectively prevent the disease, the most important thing is to kill mosquitoes and kill mosquito larvae.
"No lentils, no dengue fever - that is the simplest but most effective way to prevent the disease. Along with the efforts of the health sector, awareness of disease prevention of each citizen will be an important factor in helping to repel dengue fever and protect public health" - Mr. Huynh Huu Ho emphasized.
