On October 1, the summary information of the City Center for Disease Control (CDC Hai Phong) said that at this time, every day in the city, cases of dengue fever are recorded.
From September 20 to now, the whole city has recorded dozens of dengue fever outbreaks, including: Le Chan ward (3 outbreaks), Kien An (2 outbreaks) and Viet Hoa, Hai Duong, Hong Bang, Do Son wards... each with 1 outbreak. All of the above outbreaks carry domestic pathogens. Monitoring at outbreaks, the index of housewives with mosquitoes transmitting dengue fever and high mosquito density is shown. Local authorities directed spraying to treat mosquitoes and general environmental sanitation, killing mosquito larvae in patients' families and some surrounding households.
According to the CDC Hai Phong, from the beginning of the year to September 26, the whole city recorded 547 cases of dengue fever. Currently, medical facilities in the area are treating more than 20 cases (no cases of serious illness), the rest are being treated. According to the assessment, the dengue fever epidemic is still under control. However, with favorable weather conditions, hot weather and many days of humid rain creating conditions for mosquito development, there is a risk of increasing the number of dengue fever cases in the coming time.
According to the Department of Health, currently, unusually sunny weather and interspersed hot and humid conditions are favorable conditions for the mosquitoes that cause dengue fever to develop.
Faced with the impact of the weather that complicates the epidemic, to minimize the source of dengue fever pathogens, CDC Hai Phong is actively coordinating with Health Centers to strengthen communication activities on dengue prevention and control. Along with that, deploy supervision and professional support for epidemic prevention and control in the locality; supervise outbreak handling activities, collect waste, remove items containing stagnant water and places where mosquitoes cause reproductive diseases.
The CDC Hai Phong recommends that effective disease prevention measures are to kill mosquitoes, kill mosquito larvae, and insects. Families should cover all water containers so that mosquitoes do not come to lay eggs. Along with that, release fish into rollers, cages, jars, water tanks, lakes and large water containers to kill mosquito larvae and ticks; replace the water containers regularly. At the same time, remove and flip over waste objects, water holes, and unused water containers to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs.
People wear nightstands while sleeping, wearing long clothes to prevent mosquito bites. Actively coordinate with the health sector in spraying chemicals for epidemic prevention and control. When having a fever, people immediately go to medical facilities for examination, consultation and treatment, do not arbitrarily treat at home; vaccinate themselves and family members against the disease.
In addition, doctors also recommend that people who unfortunately have dengue fever should be examined and treated according to the doctor's instructions, and not let the symptoms continue to the medical facility, which can be dangerous.
