Faced with the situation that some individuals promote and implement the method of treating otitis media by "breathing the ear" causing much concern in public opinion, the Ha Tinh Department of Health affirmed: The method called "breathing the ear" is currently not in the list of medical examination and treatment techniques in the guidelines for diagnosing otitis media regulated by the Ministry of Health.
Therefore, this is not a treatment method recognized or recommended by the health sector to be applied in medical practice.
Blowing powder and beeswax into the ear risks blocking the drainage pathway of pus out of the ear, causing pus stasis and potentially causing dangerous complications such as: chin inflammation, septicemia, even purulent meningitis and cerebral abscess leading to life-threatening consequences.
According to the Ha Tinh Department of Health, any form of medical examination and treatment that is not based on scientific evidence, not performed by a professional and not permitted by a competent authority, is potentially risky to people's health.
In particular, arbitrarily introducing strange substances or applying unverified measures into the body can slow down the treatment process, causing the disease to progress more severely or leading to unpredictable complications.
Ha Tinh Department of Health recommends: When there are health problems, people should go to licensed medical facilities for examination and treatment; do not believe rumors or advertisements on social networks about unverified treatment effectiveness to avoid losing money and getting sick.
The health sector also proposed and suggested to the People's Committees of communes and wards to strengthen the inspection of medical and pharmaceutical practice establishments in the area according to their authority, handle or propose handling establishments operating without a license, violating professional regulations according to regulations.
