Preparing to respond to storm No. 15, Gia Lai controls dangerous epidemics during floods

Gia Lai - The health sector has distributed many disinfectants to communes to clean the environment and prevent epidemics after floods.

On November 26, Mr. Le Quang Hung - Director of the Gia Lai Department of Health - said that environmental sanitation and disinfection work in residential areas, schools, and hospitals after floods have been basically completed; the health sector is currently preparing to respond to storm No. 15.

During the recent prolonged flood, the provincial Center for Disease Control has provided 45,000 Aquatabs, 550 kg of powdered Cloramine B and 10 generic flood and storm prevention drugs to localities. Bidiphar Binh Dinh enterprise supports the Quy Nhon and Tuy Phuoc areas, each area has 500 bags of medicine.

The Department of Health also strengthens communication and guides people to take disease prevention measures, not to use polluted water and unsafe food.

Medical staff are mobilized and assigned to monitor epidemics, detect cases early for handling, prevent epidemics from breaking out and spreading after floods, especially diseases such as diarrhea, dengue fever, pain in the eyes...

On the same day, November 26, at the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired an online conference with coastal provinces and cities including Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong on deploying emergency response work to storm No. 15.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep said that in November 2025, Gia Lai province will be continuously seriously affected by storm No. 13 and the historic flood since November 16. This is the most severe series of natural disasters in many years, causing particularly great damage to property and infrastructure in the province.

Storm No. 13 and floods killed 5 people; caused damage to the province of over VND 11,500 billion; more than 92,000 houses were damaged and flooded; over 170 traffic routes and 500 bridges and culverts were damaged; hundreds of educational, medical, irrigation and power facilities were seriously affected.
