On the morning of June 8, at Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital, the Department of Health in coordination with Center II - Directly supporting children with disabilities (Vietnam Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities) organized the opening ceremony of the Journey to Sow Seeds of Hope for Surgery for Children with Disabilities in Difficult Circumstances in the area.

Mr. Pham Giang Nam - Director of Dien Bien Department of Health - said that from 2019 to now, through the coordination between the Department of Health and Center II - Directly supporting children with disabilities, the whole province has had 914 children operated on and treated for free. After surgery, all cases are monitored, treated comprehensively and ensured safety before discharge.
In 2026, after a screening process at medical facilities, Dien Bien province has 370 children with various forms of motor disabilities, eye, tooth, jaw, ear, nose, throat, burns, urinary tract... invited to the Provincial General Hospital for in-depth examination, consultation, treatment and surgery.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 individuals belonging to Center II - Directly supporting children with disabilities for their many contributions in medical examination and treatment for children with disabilities in difficult circumstances in the province.

The organizing committee presented 45 gifts to pediatric patients and families participating in the program. Immediately after the opening ceremony, 50 pediatric patients were examined, consulted, treated and performed surgery according to professional instructions by doctors.
The program of free examination and surgery for disabled children in difficult circumstances will be organized at the Provincial General Hospital until the end of June 12.
