Unlike conventional groin herniation, Nuck tube herniation can be more dangerous because it often comes with vital organs such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
At Children's Hospital 2, a typical case of Nuck tube herniation was recorded. Patient T.M.L (10 months old, Ho Chi Minh City) was taken to the Nephrology - Nephrology Department for examination with symptoms of bulge in the groin area and big lips on both sides, the right side being larger than the left side.
The bulbs tend to increase when the baby is up or crying, but they tighten when the baby is sleeping. After examination and conducting diagnostic tests, the doctor determined that the child had a herniated Nuck tube on both sides, in which the right side was a slipped herniated hernia with herniated organs including the ovaries and right fallopian tubes.
At risk of complications, the child was indicated for early surgery. During the surgery, the herniated organs were returned to the abdomen, the two Nuck tubes were cut and stitched. The patient was discharged from the hospital the same day, and the surgical wound recovered well after 7 days.
According to Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach - Deputy Director of Children's Hospital 2, " Nuck Tube appointment can manifest as a bulge in the groin area, clearly seen when the child is active, crying or doing diarrhea, and can self-stops when the child is resting. When herniated plaids contain ovaries or fallopian tubes, the risk of complications will be higher, especially when there is torsion or anemia, children may experience severe pain in the groin area, accompanied by swelling.
If not detected and treated promptly, the ovaries can be permanently damaged, affecting future fertility. Therefore, parents need to pay special attention to unusual signs and take their children to the doctor immediately when there is a doubt".
Nuck taste off cannot be cured on its own and if not treated promptly, herniated plaque can grow larger, causing compression of neighboring organs or leading to serious complications such as herniated blockage - when organs in the herniated plaque are stuck, unable to return to the abdomen, causing pain and the risk of necrosis.
Another dangerous complication is ovarian and fallopian tubes, which cause these organs to lack nutritional anemia, which can lead to complete loss of function. Early surgery not only helps prevent dangerous complications but also ensures a simpler treatment process, less invasiveness than when the disease progresses severely.
Previously, Nuck tube herniation surgery was mainly performed by re-stitizing with a self-sterilized line. Compared to traditional methods, bio-glue helps increase aesthetics, reduce the risk of infection, do not need to cut the threads and help tissues quickly connect, promoting the recovery process better.
Nuck tube appetite is not common but can seriously affect the reproductive health of children if not detected and treated promptly.
