At a meeting on the progress of universal health check-ups on August 20, Lang Son Department of Health said that from the beginning of 2026 to August 14, the whole province had 202,950 people undergoing periodic health check-ups or free screening.
Among these, there are more than 35,200 children under 6 years old, nearly 80,800 people aged 6 to 18 and about 86,900 people over 18 years old.
Health check-up activities have been implemented in all 65 communes and wards. More than 153,000 people have been examined at health stations, nearly 50,000 people have been examined at other medical facilities. However, only 17,192 people have had their electronic health records created.
According to the review results, Lang Son has more than 151,100 people belonging to priority groups who need state budget support for examination costs, with a total demand of over 45.6 billion VND.
Most are people over 18 years old, with nearly 128,000 cases; the rest are children and people aged 6 to under 18 years old.
The whole province currently has 20 public and private health facilities that meet the conditions for health check-ups according to regulations.
Localities said that the implementation is still facing difficulties due to the lack of manpower and equipment at health stations, especially in areas far from the center. The progress of health check-ups for students, coordination between units, data interconnection and funding arrangement have not yet met the requirements.
Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Nhan assessed that periodic health check-ups are an important task, closely monitored by the Central Government. Departments, branches and localities are required to remove obstacles and complete targets in 2026.
The Department of Health is assigned to be the focal point for summarizing, controlling data and urging the organization of examinations in communes, wards, agencies, and units. This agency must soon submit to establish a working group to inspect progress, meet next week and assign each member to be in charge of specific target groups or areas.
The health sector will also publicize hotline phone numbers to support units in handling errors and problems when uploading data to electronic health records.
The Provincial People's Committee requests to complete health check-ups for students in August, and create electronic health records before September 30.
Agencies and localities must review the number of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, students and groups supported by the budget to avoid omissions or duplication.
The Department of Finance coordinates with the Department of Health to develop a plan to allocate funds and guide localities to choose health check-up service providers. Communes and wards must implement it immediately after allocating resources.
