On May 25, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province said that Thanh Hoa Oncology Hospital had reported to the Provincial People's Committee Office, requesting to publicize the results of contractor selection for packages under the budget for purchasing pharmaceuticals, radioactive drugs, markers, medicinal herbs and traditional medicines in 2025.
The total winning bid value of the 3 drug packages is 92,114,390,780 VND, specifically: Generic package: Winning the bid of 90 items, 32 contractors, total value over 80.1 billion VND.
package of original pharmaceutical drugs: Winning bids for 19 items, 4 contractors, total value of more than 10.6 billion VND
Pharmaceutical and traditional medicine packages: Winning bids for 4 items, 3 contractors, total value of more than 1.33 billion VND.
Thus, the Generic drug package accounts for more than 87% of the total winning bid value. Generic drugs are a generic name for drugs with the same active ingredient, content, dosage form, sugar and treatment effectiveness as generic drugs but sold at a lower price due to no initial research costs.
The use of Generic drugs helps save treatment costs, increase access to drugs for patients, especially in the treatment of long-term and high- cost oncology.
According to Thanh Hoa Oncology Hospital, bidding packages are organized to select contractors in accordance with the Bidding Law, Decree No. 24/2024/ND-CP and guiding documents. The process of organizing and approving the results is implemented according to Decision No. 242/QD-BVUB dated February 27, 2025 and decisions approving the winning results of the hospital director.
Thanh Hoa Oncology Hospital is a Grade 2 specialized hospital, established in July 2017. The hospital is built on a campus of more than 8 hectares, with a total investment of more than 1,000 billion VND. The hospital is responsible for examining and treating oncology for patients in the province and the North Central region.
The hospital has just been equipped with a radiotherapy system with a total investment of no more than 107 billion VND from increased revenue and savings from the provincial budget. The capital will be spent 100% immediately upon implementation.
