Heavy rain in Ha Tinh, great damage to property and agricultural products

Ha Tinh - As of 3:30 p.m. on May 25, Ha Tinh is a locality that suffered great damage due to floods.

During the night of May 24 and early morning of May 25, 2025, Ha Tinh experienced a rare heavy rain with rainfall of up to nearly 600mm in just one day, causing serious flooding over a wide area. Areas such as Tri River Upstream Lake recorded 599mm of rain, Ke Go Lake 506mm, far exceeding the previous forecast.

Damage to agriculture and property: 2,250 hectares of unharvested spring rice were flooded; 2,076 tons of harvested rice were wet; 397 hectares of crops of all kinds were flooded. In Cam Xuyen district, 11,895 poultry died, 32 cattle were swept away; Huong Khe district had 300 dead chickens.

Ky Anh district flooded 150 households in Ky Van commune, with flooding levels ranging from 30 cm to 1m; Ha Tinh city had Tan Lam Huong commune, which was partially flooded in some houses; Ky Anh town had 3 small fishing boats sunk in Ky Loi commune.

Cam Xuyen district is one of the most severely affected localities, with more than 500 households flooded, many inter-village and inter-commune roads cut off due to rising floodwaters. Communes such as Cam Due, Cam My, Cam Quan, Cam Thinh, Cam Thach... located in the downstream of Ke Go Lake were also partially flooded

In Tan Lam Huong commune (Ha Tinh city), many households could not move their belongings, rice, and household items, causing great property damage. People have proactively put up their belongings when seeing heavy rain, however, the rapid water overflow has caused many properties, including the newly harvested spring rice, to be soaked in water.

In the face of the emergency, the police and local authorities have urgently deployed support and assistance to help people evacuate the elderly and children as well as move assets and rice out of the danger zone that night.

The Ha Tinh provincial government has issued an urgent telegram, requesting localities to focus on supporting people to overcome damage, cope with floods, and at the same time speed up the spring rice harvest and deploy summer-autumn crop production according to plan.

It is forecasted that in the coming days, Ha Tinh will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places having very heavy rain. People need to closely monitor weather developments and take measures to prevent floods, flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, and flooding in low-lying areas
