Fatty liver, don't skip meals

Fatty liver can still eat rice, but how to eat and how much is important to control fat in the liver.

People with fatty liver can still eat rice, but need to pay attention to the type of rice, starch intake and how to combine food to control weight, blood sugar and liver fat.

Rice does not contain cholesterol, so it is not a direct cause of fatty liver. However, white rice contains a lot of starch and can cause blood sugar to rise rapidly if eaten too much. When the body has excess energy, fat can accumulate in the liver, especially in overweight, obese or people with metabolic disorders.

Patients do not necessarily have to completely abstain from rice, but should eat it in moderation, while prioritizing fiber-rich foods and combining balanced meals.

Patients should prioritize whole grain rice or whole grains such as brown rice, red rice, black rice, oats, millet or quinoa. These foods are usually richer in fiber than white rice, which helps create a feeling of fullness and supports blood sugar control.

Besides choosing the type of rice, controlling portion sizes is also very important. Do not eat too much rice in one meal or often snack, especially at night. The amount of starch should be adjusted to suit the weight, level of exercise and health status of each person.

Meals should combine rice with lean protein such as fish, skinless poultry, eggs or beans, and plenty of green vegetables. You can supplement unsaturated fats from fish, avocados, nuts and vegetable oils in reasonable amounts.

In addition, people with fatty liver should limit soft drinks, candies, sugary drinks, foods high in saturated fat and alcohol, because these factors can make the metabolism and accumulation of fat in the liver more serious.
