On June 27, Lam Dong Provincial General Hospital said that the team of the Functional Detection Department had just performed emergency endoscopy and successfully removed a sharp foreign object from the stomach of patient N.S.D (10 years old, residing in Ka Do commune).

According to the hospital, the patient was admitted to the hospital after accidentally swallowing a sharp staple about 3cm long.
Thanks to being taken to the hospital in time, doctors quickly intervened with endoscopy, safely removing foreign objects before causing digestive tract damage.
Specialist Doctor I Tu Thanh Sang, Department of Functional Exploration, Lam Dong General Hospital, said that foreign objects such as pins, safety pins, button pins, magnets, coins or small toys pose very high risks for children.
Sharp foreign objects can cause tears, perforations of the esophagus, stomach or intestines, leading to gastrointestinal bleeding, peritonitis, abdominal infections, and even life-threatening if not treated promptly.
Doctors recommend that parents keep small, sharp objects out of reach of children, and do not let children suck on objects when playing or studying.
When suspecting a child swallowing a foreign object, do not arbitrarily induce vomiting or remove the foreign object at home, but take the child to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.
