Gia Lai - The rainy season is also a time when dengue fever epidemics easily occur, affecting public health.

On July 18, Gia Lai Department of Health said that the locality is entering the peak period of dengue fever.

Statistics from July 8 to date, the whole province recorded 381 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 161 cases compared to the previous week.

Since the beginning of the year, Gia Lai has recorded 2,913 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 1,838 cases compared to the same period in 2025.

Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus, transmitted through tick mosquitoes.

Currently, there is a vaccine to prevent the disease, but there is no specific treatment.

Therefore, the main and most effective disease prevention measure is to control disease vectors (Aedes mosquitoes), and at the same time promote environmental sanitation, kill larvae, kill mosquitoes and prevent mosquito bites.

Previously, in Bien Ho commune, Gia Lai province, a death due to dengue fever was recorded, Mr. L.V. P (born in 1999).

The patient had dengue fever and also had a history of type 2 diabetes. This is the first death from dengue fever in the province in 2026.
